Field Book (6"h x 4"w) of worn brown leather titled on front cover with paper labels "1882 Forest Pond" and "1882" dated 1880-1881 with surface measurements and diagrams of various lots including some drawings of headstones, lots on Stone Farm, and a map of the Forest Pond area, indexed at front. Engineer's field books were issued as volumes of blank ruled pages with a reference section at the end containing tables and information relating to survey measurements. The pocket-sized books were taken out on the grounds and used to record measurements of lots, locations of monuments and interments in lots, miscellaneous surveys of the grounds, buildings and waterworks, and monument inscriptions. Information from the field books was later transferred to the appropriate office record. The books are dated, arranged chronologically, and some volumes contain an index. |
