Financial Ledger titled "Mount Auburn Garden and Cemetery" dating to 1831. Bound hardcover thin ledger with red leather embossed title plate on cover. Red marbled cover and inset pages. The ledger's first entry is dated December 28th, 1831. The ledger was first kept by Treasurer George Bond until April 20th, 1942. Treasurer George William Bond kept the ledger thenceforth; the last entry is January 30th, 1852. Both treasurers used the same accounting format: left page assigned to debits, right page assigned to credits. Many right-side pages have "contra" deductions. Ledger is severely worn with many abrasions and tears, spine is almost completely disconnected and askew. |
