Three-quarter bound book in burgundy leather and black pebble cloth with marbled endpaper. Title embossed in gold on spine "Annual Reports, 1905 to 1934, Mt. Auburn Cemetery." The book is comprised of individual booklets bound together to make one volume. Each booklet is an annual report consisting of the annual report of the trustees as well as the annual reports of the treasurer and superintendent. The reports are chronological beginning with "Seventy-Fourth Annual Report (1/1/1906) and ending with "One Hundred Third Annual Report (1/1/1934).The color of each booklet cover changes every year and are heavy card stock paper. Cover design and font style are uniform from the 1906 edition until 1910 and change thereafter from 1911 through 1934. The 74th Report through the 88th Report contain black and white photographic images on the inset and title pages: the Sphinx and Washington Tower respectively. Full-page photographic images of Bigelow Chapel, the Administration Building and Story Chapel, and Forest Pond are included in the 74th through 81st Report. A photographic image of a bust of Jacob Bigelow is included in the 82nd Report (1914), a photographic portrait of President John Bradlee is included in the 83rd Report (1915), an image of Auburn Lake is included in the 84th Report (1916), a photographic portrait of President Prentiss Cummings is included in the 86th Report (1918), no photographs are included in the 89th Report (1921) through the 92nd Report (1924), an image of the interior of Bigelow Chapel is included in the 93rd Report (1925), a map insert of the 1839 Nathaniel Dearborn map of the cemetery is included in the 95th Report (1926), a photographic image of Willow Pond in development is included in the 100th Report (1932), a photographic portrait of President Charles Almy is included in the 103rd Report (1934). This volume spans the presidencies of Israel Spelman, Prentiss Cummings, William Richardson, Charles Almy, and Oakes Ames respectively. It spans the superintendencies of James Scorgie and John Peterson. |
