Handwritten letter from William Wetmore Story to Jacob Bigelow, dated January 19th, 1846. Story acknowledged Bigelow's subsequent letter that informed him he had been selected by the Trustees Committee to sculpt a statue of his father, Joseph Story. The artist appreciated this honor and invited the trustees to meet him at his residence at 3 Bussey Place (in Boston) the following Wednesday. The letter is written in black ink on one side of an unlined page. Separately, another page contains Bigelow's address "Summer St", with Story's initials and surname and the date, "Jan'y. 19. 1846." |
